Contractor agrees to provide on-call medical care services to the clients of Canyon Springs as requested by the Canyon Springs’ (CS) Contract Manager, ensuring the provision of 24-hour physician coverage, and that clients residing at Canyon Springs receive medical care consistent with their needs, during the Canyon Springs’ physician’s planned absences and needed additional onsite assistance. Canyon Springs is licensed as “Intermediate Care, Developmentally Disabled,” and is located in Cathedral City CA (immediately east of Palm Springs). The facility has 63 licensed beds. Our current in-house population is 45 clients. Our average population for the past twelve months is 55. Clients/patients have diagnoses of mild to moderate mental retardation, and the majority have secondary psychiatric diagnoses. Common issues that are monitored include complications from psychotropic medications, and some clients have chronic conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes. Physical examinations and/or assessments have to be completed as required by the California Code of Regulations Title 22, Chapter 8; the Code of Federal Regulations Title 42 Subparts G-H; and Department of Developmental Services’ policies and procedures.
