Composite Roofing Magnetic Sweeper The Contractor shall provide magnetic sweeper to remove nails and other ferrous materials that has fallen to the ground from the removal of roofing materials. From the perimeter of the building to twenty-five (25) feet out, the ground shall be free of nails and other ferrous materials. The Contractor shall inform the Facility Manager or his/her representative twentyfour (24) hours in advance when he/she intends to sweep the area. The sweeping shall be performed in the presence and to the satisfaction of the Facility Manager or his/her representative. General Requirements Do not start work unless all materials are in the possession of the Contractor and are ready for installation. Remove all miscellaneous items (cameras, antennas, etc.) from roofs prior to demolition of roofing materials. All items shall be reinstalled and verified to be in working order. Contractor is responsible to any damage to miscellaneous items and shall be replaced at Contractor’s expense. Protect buildings from rain, or wind when removing roof sheathing. Asphalt Shingles TruDefinition® Duration® COOL as manufactured by Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt, LLC or approved equal. Standards/Qualifications: ASTM D228, ASTM D3018 (Type 1), ASTM D3161 (Class F Wind Resistance), ASTM D3462, ASTM D7158 (Class H Wind Resistance), ASTM E108/UL 790 (Class A Fire Resistance), CSA A123.5, ICC-ES AC438, and UL ER2453-01. Secure with 6 nails per shingle. Shingles shall have a “cool roof” rating and meets a minimum aged solar reflectance of 0.20. Color shall be determined by site manager. Roof Deck Underlayment Premium, water repellant, breather type non-asphaltic underlayment. UV stabilized polypropylene construction. Meets or exceeds ASTM D226 and D4869. Approved by ICC, Deck-Armor™ Premium Breathable Roof Deck Protection, by GAF® or approved equal. Install underlayment using plastic cap nails or per manufacturer’s recommendation. Fasteners Fastener for asphalt shingle shall be galvanized, stainless steel, aluminum or copper roofing nails, minimum twelve (12) gage shank with a minimum 0.375 inch-diameter head of a length to penetrate through the roofing materials and roof sheathing. Fasteners shall comply with ASTM F 1667. Staples shall not be allowed. Hip and Ridge Shingles Provide hip and ridge shingles color formulated to complement field of roof. High Ridge Hip and Ridge (Algae Resistant) Shingles with Sealant as manufactured by Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt, LLC or approved equal. Plywood Sheathing Contractor shall include in their bid, replacement of one hundred sixty (160) square feet of damaged or dry rot roof sheathing. Sheathing replacement in excess of one hundred sixty (160) square feet shall be paid under a Change Order (Contingency.) Roof sheathing shall be 5/8” plywood and shall conform to US Product Standard for Construction and Industrial Plywood established by APA – The Engineered Wood Association.
