The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) is responsible for planning, designing, building, and operating the first high-speed rail system in the nation. California high-speed rail will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs, and preserve agricultural and protected lands. The Authority may enter into contracts with private and public entities for the design, construction, and operation of high-speed rail trains including all tasks and segments thereof pursuant to California Public Utilities Code section 185036. With this procurement, the Authority seeks to purchase materials necessary for the construction of its high-speed rail track and overhead contact system (OCS). Materials specifically sought under this Contract are [UIC 60 Long Welded Rail as set forth at Attachment C/Exhibit B (Technical Specifications). This procurement is funded with State of California and federal funds, including, but not limited to, funds provided by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and funds made available through the various federal funding grant programs and, therefore, requires compliance with certain federal provisions in each contract.
