The City of Chico has approximately 1,000 acres of land available for livestock pasturing on property commonly known as Bidwell Ranch, Foothill Park Preserve, and portions of Bidwell Park (Properties) in Chico, CA. Bidwell Ranch and Foothill Preserves (Properties) were established to preserve vernal pools, ephemeral drainages, and their associated resources for perpetuity. The Properties contain non-native annual grasses and forbs which can be controlled through grazing to promote the growth of native perennial grasses, annual wildflowers, and other wetland plant species. The City also wishes to minimize the wildfire hazard and control invasive non-native plants on these Properties. The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to identify persons or organizations who are interested and best qualified to safely and effectively pasture livestock on the Properties for the purpose of reducing vegetation and minimizing wildfire hazards. To be eligible for consideration, the Proposer must be capable of meeting all requirements specified in this RFP.
