The Alameda County Main Library is located at 2450 Stevenson Boulevard, Fremont. The Library is seeking a Contractor to upgrade network equipment to replace the existing system at the Library Main Data Center. This upgrade will allow the Library to utilize more bandwidth and provide additional security to the current network. The current network supports various network-dependent applications, such as the Library materials management functions, which are currently handled by Sierra, an integrated library system (ILS) product from Innovative Interfaces, Inc. The Library uses Bibliotheca self-checkout stations. These stations scan barcodes affixed to material, match against records in the ILS, and check out library material to library members. Members checked out 2,095,763 library materials utilizing the self-checkout stations and 188,349 library members used public computers in fiscal year 2023 - 2024. The Library’s Information Technology unit (LIT) provides technical support for its personal computers, network, and public computer network. LIT and facilities managers will oversee the delivery, installation, and upgrade of the network equipment for this contract.
