1. Existing Facility The existing facility is a car wash structure located within the Kings County Government Center. The structure is currently not in use and consists of the original framework and systems typical of a car wash. 2. Proposed Facility The proposed project includes the design of a new concrete wash pad for a selfservice wash bay, which will be constructed adjacent to the existing carwash bay. The desirable dimensions of the wash pad with the drain should be at least 12 feet wide and at least 25 feet long with the drain in the center of the slab. In addition, the project requires the design and integration of a permanent shade structure to be installed above the new wash pad. This structure must be engineered to provide adequate 16-foot minimum clearance and coverage for the Department’s specialized vehicles, including SWAT and Incident Command units, during detailing operations performed by supervised inmate labor. The existing carwash bay will also be re-equipped to become fully operational. The wash equipment installed will be obtained from Coleman Hanna.
