NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) intends to issue a sole source new work modification to Northrop Grumman (NG) for the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) Engineering Development Unit (EDU) Refurbishment Task Order Pool supporting the QuickSounder Program.
The new Task Order Pool will be used to issue studies for the refurbishment of the EDU and integration with the spacecraft. All studies must be performed by NG. Based on the unique and highly intricate design of the ATMS EDU, along with the required precision manufacturing processes, special test equipment, test fixtures, specialized and skilled workforce, in-depth calibration procedures, and institutional expertise and knowledge required to refurbish the ATMS EDU, NG is the only qualified vendor that meets the requirements for this procurement. No other company has the knowledge, experience, and understanding needed to refurbish the ATMS EDU other than the current and only manufacturer Northrop Grumman.
