PURPOSE/BACKGROUND The Riverside County Purchasing Department, on behalf of the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), hereafter referred to as the County, is seeking proposals from qualified bidders to provide Immersive Sensitivity Training Services and the lease of Virtual Reality Hardware Devices to use in training for the County of Riverside’s Adult Services Division (ASD). The County is requesting a proposal approach led by the Bidder that aligns with the program outcomes. DPSS Adult Services (ASD) provides services to elderly and dependent clients of Riverside County. Many of the residents suffer from debilitating diseases such as dementia, Parkinson’s and other diseases that have a high fall risk. DPSS-ASD aims to leverage advanced technologies to further enhance training for employees and caregivers to gain an understanding of the experiences our clients may face. DPSS-ASD employees and caregivers are seeking access to updated technology in order to enhance the delivery of customer-centric services to the vulnerable clients of Riverside County. Program Objectives To provide training labs with simulation activities of lifelike scenarios via virtual reality training kits which allow DPSS-ASD employees and caregivers to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for various client conditions through an immersive/interactive experience. Program Outcomes The successful contractor is expected to achieve the following outcomes: Gain insight into the experience of living with a disease or impairment. Understand disease presentation from the perspective of a patient. Improve patient-provider communication and teamwork skills. Engage in immersive learning to improve services for ASD’s vulnerable population. Target Population/Historic information Historically, the County has provided the immersive training to 90 County employees and caregivers per year. Vendor Software and Hardware Demonstration The County reserves the right to require a virtual demonstration of the proposed hardware equipment and software prior to the selection of a vendor. The date and location will be agreed upon by both the County and the Bidder. The content of the demonstration will be predefined to satisfy certain requirements set forth by the County. All participating vendors must follow the predefined agenda of the demonstration.
