The Highway 50 Class I Trail Undercrossing & Trail Improvements project is located parallel to Placerville Road and within the Sacramento Placerville Transportation Corridor Joint Powers Authority (SPTC JPA) railroad corridor, from Iron Point Road south connecting to existing Class I trail on the south side of Highway 50 parallel to Placerville Road. The Project will construct a Class I trail under Caltrans US Highway 50 bridge, widen existing trails from 10’-12’ plus add shoulders on both sides, connect existing trails, and increase queuing area at the intersection of East Bidwell Street and Iron Point Road. Segment 1: Highway 50 Class I Trail Undercrossing • Establish Class I trail undercrossing below Highway 50, beginning at the existing wood barrier at the south end of the existing Class I trail north of the highway and connect to the existing Class I trail south of Highway 50. • Construct approximately 500 linear feet of new Class I trail. • Assist with Caltrans requirements. Segment 2: Trail Improvements (north of Highway 50) • Includes the project scope north of Highway 50, beginning at the Iron Point Road intersection and ending at the existing wood barrier which marks the end of the existing Class I trail north of Highway 50. • Widen approximately 2,500 linear feet of existing Class I trail from 10’ to 12’. • Add shoulders on both sides of the Class I trail. • Add connection point across the railroad tracks between the two existing Class I trails. (See Attachment 2) • Widen existing queuing area to provide for a larger mixing zone for cyclists and pedestrians at the East Bidwell St / Iron Point Rd intersection signalized crosswalk. Segment 3: Placerville Road Pavement Rehabilitation • Construct pavement repairs on approximately 750 linear feet of Placerville Road from south of the Hampton Inn southern-most driveway to McCarthy Way. • Assist with Caltrans coordination and requirements.
