The purpose of the Harmony Harvest Gardening and Cooking Project for Trans and Nonbinary Youth (hereinafter referred to as the Project) is to empower transgender and nonbinary youth aged 16-24 with the knowledge and skills to take care of their bodies and minds through self-sustainable practices of gardening and cooking. Over the course of the program, 25 participants will build community, gain skills, and grow their palates! They will also have the opportunity to engage in conversations relevant to the issues that transgender or nonbinary youth face in today’s political, social, and economic climate. Furthermore, the Project aims to promote mental health services, reduce stigma, and increase the capacity of the public mental health system in Los Angeles County. It will enable this often underserved population to access mental health services and empower other community members to do the same.
