DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
- Background/Overview:
The SWFSC Santa Cruz Laboratory at 110 McAllister Way, Santa Cruz, CA facility contains several experimental labs, sensitive scientific equipment, boats, offices, conference rooms and a library. The facility has space for about 120 scientists and support staff. Recently, the lab experienced problems with the condenser water loop which supports all appliances that run on refrigeration such as the 60K chiller and the 21 water source heat pumps. Upon repair of the condenser loop, heat pump 2-8 was identified as requiring replacement as well.
- Scope of Work
Heat pump 2-8 is a 3 ton water source heat pump that services the MDF server room at the Santa Cruz Laboratory. This unit is wired on the emergency generator power and is heavily relied upon during power outages. The contractor shall replace and install a new Trane GEVE036 water source heat pump with: 3 ton nominal cooling, 410 refrigeration, high static blower, two way valve assembly with actuator motor.
- Tasks
- Task 1: Remove and dispose of old heat pump 2-8.
- Task 2: Furnish and install new Trane GEVE036 water source heat pump with 3 ton nominal cooling, 410 refrigeration, high static blower, two way valve assembly with actuator motor.
- Task 3: Reroute and connect existing water piping and repair where needed.
- Task 4: Install new 2 way B&G reducing valve assembly with new floating Honeywell actuator 24VDC motor.
- Task 5: Connect condensate pipe to existing drain lines and repair where needed.
- Task 6: Charge refrigeration, connect power, run and test to ensure new heat pump 2-8 is fully operable and replacement is complete.
