A. Contractor shall provide rain gutter and downspout replacement services for Caltrans Division of Equipment Shop. The facility consists of two main buildings, the shop and the warehouse; and two (2) auxiliary roof structures. The shop building measures approximately 371 feet by 78 feet. New gutters shall be installed on both sides of the building, with each side requiring approximately 371 linear feet of gutter. The shop building shall have a total of eleven downspouts, with six (6) located on the north side and five (5) on the south side. The warehouse building measures approximately 301 feet by 70 feet. New gutters shall be installed on both sides, with each side requiring approximately 301 linear feet of gutter. The warehouse shall have a total of 12 downspouts, with six (6) on each side placed in their existing locations. The auxiliary roof attached to the shop shall have approximately 78 linear feet of new gutter and one (1) downspout. This downspout may be placed at either end, with the gutter graded to ensure proper drainage. The auxiliary roof attached to the warehouse wash rack shall have approximately 75 linear feet of new gutter and one downspout, which shall be installed in the same location as the current downspout. All downspouts throughout the facility shall be approximately four (4) inches in diameter. See Shop 3 Gutter Site Map, Attachment 4. B. Contractor shall remove and legally dispose of existing rain gutters, downspouts, and metal flashing without causing damage to the existing roof. All removed materials shall be legally disposed of at no additional cost to Caltrans. C. Contractor shall furnish and install new perimeter metal flashing, rain gutters, and downspouts fabricated from 24-gauge metal or thicker. 1) Rain gutters and downspouts shall be installed in the same locations and be of the same size as existing, unless otherwise approved by Caltrans Contract Manager in his/her sole discretion. 2) Rain gutters, downspouts, and flashing shall be primed and painted using quality low volatile organic compound (VOC) latex paint. The final color shall be approved by Caltrans Contract Manager prior to purchase and installation. 3) Contractor shall be responsible for all paint touch-up and overspray cleanup for the duration of the Agreement. 4) All fasteners furnished and installed shall be stainless steel, factory-coated galvanized steel, or other corrosion-resistant steel. D. Contractor shall verify all dimensions prior to purchasing materials. Should incorrect quantities be ordered due to Contractor’s failure to verify dimensions, Contractor shall purchase additional materials at its sole expense.
