Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Bus Book – Cover Design/Production only The purpose of the Bus Book is to provide a comprehensive source of information about OCTA bus services. The Bus Book contains individual route maps and schedule information for all bus routes OCTA operates. The Bus Book also provides information explaining how to ride the bus and where to purchase bus passes, lists other transit agencies that connect with OCTA buses, boarding diagrams and other editorial text. The maps are created in Adobe Illustrator and imported into InDesign, and the time schedules are provided as Microsoft Excel files that are then linked via the plug-in Smart Styles to tables within Adobe InDesign. The bus book consists of 180 1-color pages plus a 4 page, 4-color cover and insert. Each service change requires changes to all color pages, and updates to approximately 50 maps and 50 route schedules. Changes to text pages and maps will be scanned and saved as PDF files. All route schedule changes will be supplied, as individual Excel files for each route, and direction of travel. Final bus book receivables will be as high-resolution files as indicated and uploaded to FTP: • Individual PDFs of each page with crop marks to be provided for printer. Each file named, as the page number in the book • Individual PDF of each section/route to be used for the online eBusbook • Individual PDF, JPG, GIF files of each map, resized to 8.5”x11” • Individual JPG of each route for mobile app schedules • Final compiled book as a PDF or online distribution 2. On-Street Signage – Design/Production/Printing The purpose of the on-street signage is to provide customers with information about a specific bus stop. This information aids the customer while they are waiting for the bus. OCTA has roughly 6,000 bus stops throughout the county. Each bus stop provides information regarding the bus route(s) that stop at the specific stop, bus schedule frequency and map information. The maps are created in Adobe Illustrator, and the files are created in Adobe InDesign with linked Microsoft Excel files, utilizing the plug-in Smart Styles. Each bus stop has either a single cassette (size is 4.25”w x 17.25”h) holding one piece of route information, or a tube cassette (size is 24”w x 17.5”h) holding information of up to five routes. Final files would include the entire route, as a PDF with specific stop information for each stop and stop id on each individual stop. There are between 10 and 200 stops per route. Each service change requires changes to roughly 50 different routes consisting of 3,500-4,500 individual cassettes and 200 tubes requiring replacement. Final deliverables for the on-street signage will consist of: • Single Cassettes – High-resolution PDF including each route in a separate file to be printed by OCTA in-house printing. • Tube Cassettes – Graphics firm will be responsible for design production, as well as final printing and laminating of the tube cassettes.
