A. Contractor shall provide goats for grazing of vegetations at various locations along designated State Right of Ways and interchanges in Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano, and Sacramento Counties. Contractor shall provide herdsmen, for the on-site management of goats twenty-four (24) hours per day for the duration of the given area. Contractor shall also provide all necessary tools, travel, and equipment. Depending on the number of acres and the number of goats used, the average time to clear a location may take a couple of days up to two (2) weeks to complete each service request B. Contractor shall be able to provide enough goats to have three (3) separate locations grazed at the same time, should multiple services be required. C. Contractor shall be responsible for the transportation of goats to and from each location. Contractor shall be responsible for the transportation, trailer, and incidentals of herdsmen. D. Caltrans Contract Manager shall notify Contractor to determine date, time and locations of the areas to be grazed via Service Request. Contractor shall be provided with maps of each location to be grazed. The Contractor shall report to the job location within one (1) week of notification by Caltrans Contract Manager. E. Contractor shall provide portable electric fencing, water troughs and water for goats. Contractor may be required to provide double portable electrical fencing for some locations. Caltrans is not responsible for the actions or protection of the goats. F. Within the areas to be grazed, eighty-five percent (85%) of vegetation up to five (5) feet high shall be grazed and consumed by the goats, unless Caltrans Contract Manager directs the Contractor, otherwise in writing, in order to ensure that over-grazing does not occur. Enough vegetation shall be allowed to remain to prevent soil erosion. Contractor shall trim vegetation that is not grazed and consumed by the goats when directed in writing by Caltrans Contract Manager.
