Services shall include but may not be limited to: Remove rubber, dirt, sand, copper jackets, lead (shot, pellets, fragments, etc.) materials to twenty-four inches (24”) deep from the exposed surface/point of entry in the berm/backstop/bullet trap hot spots and the immediate surrounding outside areas (i.e. berm bench), removing as much lead as possible, with a minimum of at least 85%. Inspection and acceptance of work will be performed by visual verification by the CDCR Contract Liaison or designee. Regardless of the method used, soil shall pass through a standard 3/16-inch screen to remove large particles. The sifted material (not captured by the 3/16-inch screen) shall be passed through a 5/100-inch screen to capture remaining fragments. After passing through a 5/100-inch screen, soil may be returned to the berm. Visually inspect all berm/backstop/bullet trap components for wear/damage and safe re-use. Compare with manufacturer’s specifications (if applicable) and inform CDCR of any visual defects. Remove bullet materials (copper jackets/lead materials) from the range premises.
