1. Performance Requirements a. Berkeley Fire Department Turnouts are manufactured by Globe. The Contractor, as an Independent Service Provider (ISP), shall be certified to service turnouts from these manufacturers in accordance with NFPA 1851, Chapter 11, Verification. Contractor is required to comply with the care and maintenance guidelines provided by the manufacturer of each element. b. Contractor shall comply with the requirement of NFPA 1851, Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting. c. Contractor shall utilize materials, processes and/or procedures that are compliant with the applicable NFPA 1971 Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structure Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting. 2. Advanced Inspections and Advanced Cleaning Guidelines a. The Contractor shall provide advanced inspections and advanced cleaning that is compliant with the most current version of NFPA 1851, other NFPA guidelines and the manufacturers' recommendations. b. When the Contractor performs the advanced inspection, all records and findings shall be documented and provided to the Berkeley Fire Department. c. Contractor shall provide advanced cleaning of PPE (hoods, structure coats, structure pants) every (12) months. Advanced inspections shall be done annually. Additionally, the Contractor shall provide specialized cleaning if decontamination is needed. i. Advanced Inspection 1. All advanced inspections shall be performed in accordance with the most current version of NFPA 1851 guidelines. 2. The advanced inspection shall include documentations of all PPE items and components listed in NFPA 1851, Section 4.3. Any records of PPE, which has been inspected by the Contractor, shall be accessible to the Berkeley Fire Department. 3. The advanced inspection shall include a complete liner inspection, which includes a Water Penetration Barrier Evaluation. 4. Contractor shall perform advanced cleaning of ensemble elements upon request by the department.
