The Long Beach Public Utilities Department (hereafter “Department” or “LBPUD”) is soliciting proposals from experienced, qualified, and licensed firms to provide Fire Hydrant Inspection Services for approximately 1,818 fire hydrants throughout the City of Long Beach. The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, tools, parts, and equipment necessary to provide Fire Hydrant Inspection Services as described in this Request for Proposal (RFP) and related Exhibits. The Department will provide a list of fire hydrants to be inspected. Each inspection shall consist of performing and recording the following actions: Operation of the hydrant foot valve or hydrant lateral valve Operation of all 2.5” hydrant valves Operation of all 4.5” hydrant valves Recording of hydrant pressure using a pressure gauge at 2.5” hydrant outlet Flowing of hydrant to make sure flow does not subside Confirm operation of all hydrant outlet valves Recording of relevant information per Inframap form Visual inspection of hydrant to report to LBPUD any leaks or physical defects such as missing operating nuts, missing outlet caps, missing blue reflector, and damaged or substandard paint Replace missing blue reflectors (fire hydrant markers) per LBPUD standard WDS-130 (Exhibit C), as needed Replace all missing outlet caps Report to LBPUD deficiencies found in any of the above on same business day
