Contractor shall ensure proper functionality, reliability, and compliance for all Silent Knight 6820 and 6820-EVS fire alarm system components. Contractor shall adhere to the following inspection, testing, and maintenance service schedules: A. Quarterly; 1) Visual inspection of all system components such as control panels, waterflow alarm devices, backflow preventers, and notification appliances to verify no visible damage or impairments. 2) Functional test of all supervisory signal devices done with fire sprinkler inspection. Sprinkler inspection must be clearly stated individually on each inspection report. 3) Performed in the months of January, April, July, and October, or as otherwise specified by Caltrans Contract Manager. B. Semi-Annually; 1) Functional testing of initiating devices (e.g., smoke detectors (including elevator shafts), heat detectors, pull stations), notification appliances (e.g., horns, strobes, speakers), and annunciators and control modules. 2) Power supply checks, valve tamper switch checks, water flow device checks, and battery load voltage tests. 3) Performed in the months of June and December or as otherwise specified by Caltrans Contract Manager. C. Annually; 1) Comprehensive testing of 100% of system components, including Emergency Voice/Alarm Communication System (EVACS) for 6820-EVS units, per NFPA 72. 2) Cleaning, vacuuming, and calibration testing of the ceiling mounted smoke detectors, including cleaning and testing of elevator shaft smoke detectors. 3) Inspection of all building alarm notification devices, including but not limited to, audible devices, speakers, and visual devices. 4) Inspection and testing of all electro-mechanical releasing devices. 5) Verification of alarm, supervisory, and trouble signal transmission to the supervisory station. 6) Performed in the month of December or as otherwise specified by Caltrans Contract Manager.
