The City of Sacramento, City Manager’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development is soliciting proposals to: implement an equity-based family childcare home (“FCCH”) Business Development Training Program (“Program”) for up to 30 participants. This Program is being funded by a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration. In June 2023, the City’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development, partnering with the City’s Government Affairs staff, submitted a federal funding request to continue the City’s support of early learning and childcare expansion with a focus on providers willing to expand infant and toddler capacity. On November 1, 2023, Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2024 (“Act”), and on March 9, 2024, President Joe Biden signed it into law. Within the FY24 Congressional Community Projects awards, the City of Sacramento received a grant award of $850,000 for infant and toddler care expansion technical assistance and capacity building. The term of the grant award is from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027. ---
