Provide falconry-based bird abatement services at Valley Water’s Los Capitancillos percolation ponds in San Jose, CA. The work requires the use of trained raptors to deter nuisance birds whose presence negatively impacts water quality, infrastructure, and public health. The contractor will conduct a minimum of four site visits per week during the active bird season (April through September), performing raptor flights across all eleven ponds and adapting deterrence strategies based on bird activity. Responsibilities include maintaining activity logs, preparing monthly summary reports, coordinating with Valley Water staff, and ensuring full compliance with wildlife regulations, including the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The falconer must provide trained raptors, telemetry tracking equipment, and all required safety materials, and hold a current California Department of Fish and Wildlife falconry license.
