The purpose of this project consists of the replacement of asphalt that is beyond its useful life. The project consists of saw cut, removal and disposal of asphalt at four (4) areas identified by the District for asphalt replacement. Approximate Square Foot – 6,200 Sq. Ft. 1. Asphalt Replacement: Approximate Square Footage – 6,200 Sq. Ft. of asphalt replacement at four areas. a. b. c. Supplement and install new base rock with ¾” Class 2 asphalt base, compact, and grade to maintain proper depth to prepare the asphalt replacement area for installation of hot mix asphalt placed at a maximum lift height of 3” after compaction. Contractor to assure compacted base maintains existing finish grade and drainage anticipated after asphalt concrete installation and compaction at each area. Paint Binder (Tack Coat) shall be applied to existing surfaces where new asphalt concrete is to be placed on existing asphalt pavement. It shall also be applied to the contact surfaces of all cold pavement joints, curbs, gutters, manholes and the like immediately before the adjoining asphalt concrete is placed. Paint Binder (tack coat) shall be, at the option of the Contractor, either slow setting asphaltic emulsion, or rapid-setting asphaltic emulsion.
