Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of California Highway Patrol (CHP) provides safety services to the public throughout the State of California. The Contractor agrees to provide oral and written foreign language translation services to the CHP Headquarters offices and approximately 130 Field offices statewide. Details of the Contractor responsibilities are included within this Exhibit A. A. The Contractor must be able to translate, orally and in writing, for major and non-major dialects for all common language groups including, but not limited to: Spanish, Vietnamese, Mien, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Cambodian, French, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Armenian, Farsi, Hindu, Urdu, Punjabi, and Tagalog. Translators must translate the written word accurately and in the same spirit and style as it appears in the original text. Translated documents are subject to close scrutiny, since they memorialize information into a written product. Translation work requires a great deal of research to ensure accuracy of nuances, subject-matter detail, and to retain fluency. B. The Contractor shall speak in clear English to effectively communicate the translated foreign language to the Contract Manager. C. Questions regarding the specifications of the written, non-emergency, and instructional translation services shall be directed to the Contract Manager. Refer above to Exhibit A, Section 5, Project Representatives. D. The Contractor shall not release any CHP provided information without the prior written approval of the Contract Manager. E. The Contractor shall provide the Contract Manager with a current contact list to include a name, electronic mail (e-mail) address, and telephone number for the service provider’s translation coordinator, account manager, and billing coordinator every 30 calendar days.
