Inspect and determine if the fire alarm and detection system is in service and in satisfactory condition. Inspect for any changes or modifications of the fire alarm and detection system. Inspect general storage and stock arrangements in relation to the fire alarm and detection system. Check the general condition of the fire alarm panel and related equipment. Test all smoke and heat detectors as per manufacturers’ specifications. Inspect all remote fire alarm panels. Inspect and test the releasing panel(s). Inspect all fire alarm annunciator panels and the fire alarm annunciator sub-panels. Notify the FMD Contractor if any components are inoperable. Repair upon approval by the FMD Contract administrator or FMD Designated Representative. Inspect all fire alarm control panels, Notify the FMD Contractor if any components are inoperable. Repair upon approval by the FMD Contract administrator or FMD Designated Representative. Inspect and test releasing panel. Inspect and test all annunciators and zones. Inspect speakers and strobes. Inspect and test surge protector. Check status indicator lights to confirm the surge protector is functioning. Visually inspect for physical damage (e.g., cracks, discoloration) and corrosion. Inspect all batteries. All back up batteries for the fire alarm systems are to be removed and replaced by the contractor one (1) time during the term of this contract. Inspect and perform tests on all output relay activations. Inspect and exercise all flow switches, tamper switches and low-pressure alarms. Inspect and verify all signals are transmitted and received by Central Fire Monitoring Station. Inspect and test the Cellular Alarm Communicator. Report findings to the FMD Contract Administrator or FMD Designated Representative. Visually inspect smoke detectors for cleanliness. When necessary, cleaning shall be in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations. Test non-restorable heat detector circuits by simulating its electrical operation at the wiring connection. Functionally test all accessible heat-actuated devices, both electrically and pneumatically, as per manufacturer’s recommendations. Notify FMD Contract Administrator or FMD Designated Representative if there are changes in general occupancy environment, operations, and conditions related to the fire alarm and detection system in accordance with NFPA standards. Inspect and exercise all supervised control valves and switches. During testing of the fire detection system, outputs shall be operated for the purpose of equipment shutdown, start-up, and HVAC/smoke control. Contractor shall investigate troubles to the fire alarm panel due to ground faults. Contractor to provide resolution and make repairs to a ground fault situation only under the condition that the problem is related to the fire alarm system; and with approval from the FMD Contract Administrator or FMD Designated Representative prior to making the repairs. Using the State Fire Marshal Inspection, Testing and Maintenance report forms, prepare and submit a quarterly inspection report which explains any deficiencies and recommend corrective action. This report shall be provided to the FMD Contract Administrator or FMD Designated Representative, via email, within 14 business days of service for further instructions.
