Nevada County is inviting proposals from qualified firms/individuals to prepare Environmental Compliance documentation in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and complete treatment design through the use of a Registered Professional Forester for the Lower Deer Creek – Penn Valley Hazardous Fuel Reduction Project (DR-4683) (Project). The Lower Deer Creek -Penn Valley Hazardous Fuel Reduction Project is a 1,011-acre (529-parcel) Project designed to protect critical infrastructure, create safe ingress & egress, and support watershed protection. The Project, when complete, will treat 107 acres around sanitation and water treatment facilities, mitigate 726 acres of roadside vegetation, and reduce fuel loading on 178 acres in and around the Deer Creek Canyon. Funding for the Project is provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP).
