Design: The vehicle design must provide reliable year-round use in high ambient heat conditions experienced in Bakersfield, California. The vehicle will operate in a variety of conditions, not limited to city streets, unpaved roads, and low-speed operating conditions. Vehicles classified in FMVSS as low speed vehicles or non-road vehicles are not acceptable. The vehicle shall be a 2026 electric powered cab forward truck with a 16’ stake bed. Frame: Frame shall be heavy-duty steel or aluminum designed for severe service at the vehicle GVWR rating. Accessible heavy-duty tow hooks shall be mounted to the chassis frame rails both in the front and rear of the vehicle. Suspension The vehicle shall have a minimum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 10,000 lbs. Axles: The rear axle shall be a dual rear wheel designed to accommodate the specified gross vehicle weight rating. The front axle shall be designed to accommodate the specified gross vehicle weight rating. The wheelbase shall be sufficient length to accommodate the specified 16’ stake bed. A mounted spare tire a wheel assembly shall be provided for the vehicle. If the front and rear wheels are different sizes or models, one front and one rear tire spare and wheel must be provided.
