Specifications include, but are not limited to: Producing a collection of regionally and nationally recognized, permanent outdoor art work throughout El Monte as a public benefit. The objective of the City of El Monte, in issuing this Request for Qualifications, is to identify qualified artists and/or artist teams that have the ability to provide art in public places in El Monte. Public art should result in broad community benefit by enhancing the city’s image and sense of place, contributing to economic vitality, and improving the community’s exposure to arts. Possible mural project locations may include, but are not limited to surfaces which may include concrete, plaster, and other materials. Sites may have pre-existing paint or other treatments. This may require knowledge of site preparation, maintenance and protection. Knowledge of priming and anti-graffiti/UV coating services for all mural projects is preferred.
