We are proposing to teach two courses CRWN 92: Social & Creative Impact Entrepreneurship (5 credits) and CRWN 94: Eco-Entrepreneurship (5 credits) to be taught based in Amsterdam, with occasional site visits in various places such as Rotterdam, Utrecht, etc around the Netherlands. Students will learn how Entrepreneurship can be the bridge between the deeply rooted capitalistic economy and environmental sustainability of the Netherlands. Join us for a month long, in-depth exploration of the interactions between human and natural communities while befitting people creatively and strategically. We will cross disciplinary bounds for a new approach to sustainability and business venture creation. By working with the local entrepreneurial organizations such as Impact Hub Amsterdam, the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) and University of Amsterdam and local entrepreneurs working in sustainability, we will analyze the complexities of a conservation-versus-development approach while also having the first-hand experience of what a more holistic version of valuing and taking care of life—in all its diverse forms— could be like. Visits to local organizations and communities will be balanced with classroom seminars in economics and sustainability to explore the potential for truly environmental new businesses. During the program, students will travel around the western coast of the country and inland to the Green Heart of Holland. Some foundational coursework will begin virtually/online before the program departs to the Netherlands.
