Specifications include, but are not limited to: The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA or Agency) is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) for the services of a Medical Review Officer (MRO) as one of the program elements required to support its Substance Abuse Program (Program). The objective of the Program is to assure worker fitness for duty and to protect transit employees, passengers, and the public from risks posed by the use of prohibited drugs. The Program has been designed to be in compliance with industry regulations and guidelines that have been developed specifically for transit properties. In brief, the services consist of the following: 1. Receipt, interpretation, verification, and reporting of all drug testing results, including communications with employees to discuss results of drug tests. 2. Provision of medical consulting services regarding testing procedures and results to the SFMTA, collection facilities, and testing laboratories, as required. 3. Communication with the lab or collection facility to determine the cause for delayed test results; transmittal of information to the SFMTA’s Designated Employer Representative (DER). 4. Provision of medical services relating to an individual employee’s fitness for duty, shy bladder and shy lung evaluation or other related matters as requested.
