Project Name: New Gymnasiums at Miller, Hyde and Kennedy Middle Schools Description:The District intends to construct three new gymnasiums at separate 6–8 campuses. All three facilities will share a common program and functional layout, and the District is open to developing buildings that are substantially similar, or even identical, across sites to streamline design, DSA approval and construction. Architectural variations may still be required at each campus to respond to site constraints and complement existing campus character. The new gymnasiums are envisioned as multi-use facilities supporting daily physical education, athletics, and large school assemblies. The buildings will also serve limited community functions outside regular school hours. Major Program Components (Common to All Three Sites) ● Main Gym Space ● Full-size high school–regulation basketball court ● Two cross/practice courts ● Volleyball configurations ● Bleacher seating on one side (assembly capacity up to 1,100 students, with chairs) ● Basic AV infrastructure suitable for assemblies and presentations ● Support & Ancillary Spaces ● Equipment storage for PE and team sports ● Appropriately sized restroom core ● Small lobby/ticketing entry area (potential for trophy display) ● Building systems and utilities (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life-safety, low-voltage)
