A. Task 1: Influent Junction Box & Diversion Box Cleaning The function of the Influent Junction Box (IJB) is to collect all incoming flows for measuring and sampling and divert the flow to selected primary clarifiers. Flow passes through a Parshall flume for measurement, then enters the Diversion Box and combines with the recycle stream from the WWTP Site Waste Station. Flow is then diverted to selected primary clarifiers by four adjustable weir gates. The weirs act as isolation and flow metering devices. The IJB & DB cleaning shall include, but not be limited to, the following: • The removal of material, decanting, and then placing the material into bins. • The contractor will provide bins, 6 mil liners and all other supplies to contain and transport grit, rags, scum, and debris removed from the IJB & DB. • The contractor will cover the entire work area with 6 mil plastic and use sandbags, as necessary, to secure the plastic and contain any liquid. • The contractor will dewater the bins prior to transportation. • The contractor will haul and dispose of all material in accordance with regulations set forth by the State of California. Task 2 – Primary Clarifier & Scum Pit Cleaning The purpose of primary clarification is to remove solids from liquids by sedimentation, remove scum from liquid by floatation, and thicken solids for removal and further treatment. The WWTP employs four primary clarifiers of differing size to meet its treatment goals. Primary clarifier cleaning shall include, but not be limited to, the following: • The removal of material, decanting, and then placing the material into bins. • The cleaning of all clarifier’s interior surfaces and mechanical equipment. • The contractor will provide bins, 6 mil liners and all other supplies to contain and transport grit, rags, scum, and debris removed from each primary clarifier. • The contractor will dewater the bins prior to transportation. • The contractor will haul and dispose of all material in accordance with regulations set forth by the State of California. Task 3 – Vacuum & Hydro Jetting Sewer Lines Raw wastewater is conveyed to the WQCP through five separate force mains which converge at the IJB. Additional pipelines carry wastewater and sludge throughout the plant. All lines to be decommissioned will require thorough cleaning. Sewer line cleaning shall include, but not be limited to, the following: • Hydro jetting to clear debris and scour sewer lines. • The removal of material, decanting, and then placing the material into bins. B. Additional Tasks The City may request, and the Contractor shall agree to perform, additional services on a time-and-materials basis.
