The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for primary law enforcement services in unincorporated Sonoma County, the Town of Windsor, and the City of Sonoma. Most felony crimes and other complex criminal matters are investigated by the Sheriff’s Investigation Bureau, which is comprised of the Property Crimes, Violent Crimes, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault, Crime Scene Investigations, and Narcotics Units. There is also a detective specifically dedicated to the investigation of cold cases. Detectives receive specialized training and rely on contracted vendors to provide specialized services to assist in investigations. The Sheriff’s Office seeks an experienced, accredited, and reputable service provider to perform DNA analysis services for a three-year term.
