The City of Commerce is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to develop and implement a three-phase approach for installing lighting at designated mural locations within the City, as shown in the attached Map. The first phase will involve a structural analysis of the existing walls to ensure they can safely support lighting fixtures and accommodate necessary drilling and foundation structure, particularly at the Atlantic Boulevard underpass south of Ferguson Dr at the Mixmaster intersection (Mixmaster underpass) as the walls serve as retaining walls. The second phase will include the design of the lighting system, encompassing the foundation, power sources, and overall installation requirements. If the structural analysis determines that installing lighting on certain walls is not feasible, consultant shall develop and propose an alternative solution to enhance nighttime visibility. Additionally, the consultant will design a CCTV system to monitor the lighting installations and deter vandalism, including graffiti on the murals. This comprehensive approach aims to enhance visibility, security, and longevity of the City’s public art installations.
