Specifications include, but are not limited to: The County is seeking interest from qualified organizations to provide Correspondence Parenting Education Services to DPSS clients who are unable to attend an in-person parenting course due to transportation/distance issues, occupation and work schedule, chronic or incapacitating illness/disability, or incarceration. In child dependency cases, the court orders clients who have an open case to attend services designed to assist them in overcoming issues that brought them to the court’s attention in the first place. Often, parenting education is one of those services that parents are expected to attend. These courses cover a variety of topics with the aim of enhancing parental understanding of child development and behavior, and providing skills and techniques that aid in effective parenting. DPSS’ Children Services Division (CSD) is charged with providing “reasonable services” to families who are involved with the Child Welfare System.
