The City plans to construct an approximate 6,500 square foot, one-story, Fire Station within the Glen Loma Ranch community. The station is to be built on land dedicated by the developer of Glen Loma Ranch and more specifically on Parcel Q of Tract Map 10472 (see Appendix C). The new station will be designed based upon a space needs assessment, building program, and site analysis developed by the Consultant selected from this RFP. The new building will include two fire truck bays, office space, individual dormitory rooms, kitchen, common area, unisex restrooms with showers and and changing area, decontamination room, workout room and parking for personal employee vehicles. At least one accessible space will be required and available to staff and/or the general public. The station will include back-up emergency power either via emergency diesel generator and/or a combination of photovoltaic panels and back-up battery storage. The intent is to build a user-friendly, accessible, safe and healthy environment for the City of Gilroy Fire Department staff. The station is intended to be accessible to the public by invitation only. Security will be an important part of this new building. The building’s design and construction shall meet all applicable state and local building and development standardsincluding seismic standards for Critical Facilities. The City of Gilroy will have jurisdiction and oversight for review, approval, permitting and final occupancy for the facility. The consultant will be required to make presentations to stakeholders including community members during the design process. The consultant’s project bridging documents and specifications shall require the DBE build to the then applicable building and fire related codes.
