This Project is located at the Carpinteria Street Bridge (Bridge) over Sycamore Creek between South Soledad Street and South Canada Street. The Bridge is listed as structurally deficient and is to be replaced with a new bridge designed to meet current City, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and Caltrans standards while minimizing adverse effects on Sycamore Creek and protecting, preserving, and enhancing its adjacent riparian habitat. The Project primarily consists of, but is not limited to, the following: • Remove and replace a timber bridge and roadway approaches; • Demolition of retaining walls; • Relocate utilities (Water and Waste Water); • Construct creek transition walls; • Construct sidewalks and other minor concrete items; • Realign the roadway; • Plant riparian trees and vegetation and install irrigation systems; • Install storm drain facilities and post construction BMPs; • Install streetlights; and • Protect existing utilities per the Project’s Plans and Specifications. The Project has obtained the following environmental permits and approvals: • Regional Water Quality Control Board Section 401 Water Quality Certification; • California Department of Fish and Wildlife; • Endangered Species Act Section 7(a)(2) Biological Opinion; and • U.S. Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 Nationwide Permit.
