A. Sanding of the floors shall follow Maple Flooring Manufacturer’s Association (MFMA) specifications. B. The bleachers shall be in their fully retracted position during the sanding and refinishing process. Work directly beneath the bleachers is not required. C. Floors shall be cleaned before and after sand down. Any marks, gum, tape and grime stuck on the floor shall be removed. The Contractor shall address any imperfections, unevenness, swirling, or damage on the wood surface to ensure optimal results. D. For areas that machines cannot properly clean, such as corners, thresholds, etc., the floor must be hand cleaned, scraped and sanded. E. Floor shall be abraded using the manufacturer recommended grit screen disks, to remove oils, stains, and loose finish. F. Paint game lines, lettering and logos to match existing, using oil-based paint, following industry standards and client specifications for line placement and dimensions. When dry, lightly abrade those areas. G. Abraded floors shall be cleaned, vacuumed, and tacked to ensure a dust free surface before the application of finish coats. H. A minimum of two coats of sealer and three coats of finisher must be applied. Depending on the condition of the floors, additional finishing may be necessary. I. Floor sealer and finish shall meet the Maple Flooring Manufacturer’s Association (MFMA) requirements. J. Remove existing baseboards from perimeter of gym area, taking care to preserve surrounding finishes and structures. Install new baseboards using appropriate fastening methods and materials. New baseboards must match the space’s aesthetic per the client’s preference. K. Finished floors shall have no swirl or streak marks. L. Conduct a final walkthrough and inspection of the completed work area with the project manager to ensure satisfaction and address concerns.
