1. The Certified Athletic Trainer will provide overall clinical support towards evaluating LAFD members’ injuries; develop individualized and group treatment; develop corrective exercise plans; and restore function and strength in firefighter-related biomechanical movements and workplace injuries. 2. Assist LAFD personnel in managing multiple treatment centers and associated equipment located at the Downtown Training Center (Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center), the Recruit Drill Tower at Fire Station 81 in the Valley, and temporary mobile treatment sites at fire stations. 3. Assist LAFD personnel in creating educational content to be delivered across multiple platforms, including, but not limited to, Program newsletters, the LAFD intranet, classes and fire station visits. 4. Perform Functional Movement Screen (FMS) testing, as well as create and educate LAFD members on their individualized corrective exercise programs. 5. Assist LAFD personnel in collecting injury, treatment and recovery data for use in determining the Program’s effectiveness related to stated metric goals. 6. Be available on-call for large incident emergency response recovery treatments. 7. Assist in the development of a Department-wide fitness and wellness program.
