Specifications include, but are not limited to: Campus Commons Golf Course is a 9-hole par 3 golf course on approximately 17 acres. The golf course is located along the American River near Sacramento State University and downtown Sacramento, which makes it readily available to a large population while offering a unique playing experience. The newly constructed golf course features large natural grass tees averaging 5,800 sf, and 4,000 sf greens built to USGA standards. The irrigation system is also new, featuring valve-in-head Toro sprinklers and Toro satellite controllers. The irrigation system will use domestic water flowing through a new Watertronics pump station. The greens will be sodded with Pure Distinction bentgrass and the balance of the golf course will be sodded with Santa Ana bermuda grass. Because the golf course may experience intermittent flooding, the golf course does not have sand bunkers or cart paths but does have extensive subsurface drainage. The existing golf course clubhouse is currently under renovation. The design intent is to build a very walkable golf course that will be easy to maintain and will keep operational costs down. Players will recognize that the challenge of the golf course comes from the shaping around the greens and the putting surfaces. We anticipate the majority of golfers to be beginners or casual players, and the design will provide them with an enjoyable experience.
