The California Solar Initiative (CSI) is part of the Go Solar California effort, which is the brand name used for the programs established by Senate Bill 1 (SB 1, 2006). In this RFP, the CSI Program is designated as the group of programs authorized by SB 1 and overseen by the CPUC. The CSI sub-programs include the General Market program, the Multi-family Affordable Solar Homes (MASH) program, the Single-family Affordable Solar Homes (SASH) program, and the Research Design & Development (RD&D) program (the RD&D and CSI Thermal programs will not be part of this Impact Evaluation ). In addition to the various CSI sub-programs, the Go Solar California programs also include the New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP), which is run by the California Energy Commission, and the various customer-solar programs run by publicly owned utilities (POUs). Other State programs which fund or have funded customer-solar generation include the Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) and the Emerging Renewables Program (ERP). Finally, many utility customers in California decide to install photovoltaic (PV) generation on their property without connecting with any California Public Purpose rebate program. The term for the contract detailed in this RFP will be for a two-year term.
