The scope of work consists of, but is not limited to, the full demolition and replacement of the existing 1951 Institutional Infirmary (6,400 sf) with a new (approximately 6,700 sf) Health Services Building which includes hazardous material abatement of existing structures, site work, parking, roadways, utilities, and related improvements. The new building will contain at least nine (9) beds (3 double beds and 3 single beds) serving nine (9) students. Each room shall have toilets, showers, sinks, etc. The building will also contain a centrally located nurse charting station, a waiting room, reception/ dispensing counter, medication room, examination room, treatment rooms, staff charting, lab workstation, medication storage areas, secure narcotics storage area, nourishment station, clean linen and supplies, soiled linen room, laundry area, janitors’ storage, staff breakroom and lockers, staff toilets, IT server area, and mechanical room. The building will require a new emergency driveway loop to the south-west of the building allowing for easy ambulatory access in case of an emergency. The site design will include accessible walkways, landscape spaces, parent pick up, and additional dedicated covered parking areas. An analysis of other active State projects at this campus shall be included to ensure project compliance with all applicable accessible requirements by Department of State Architect. This project must be designed to include Deaf Space architectural guidelines for the deaf community. The project must be designed and constructed for LEED Gold certification, Zero Net Energy (ZNE), Zero Net Carbon as well as comply with the Field Act and the Division of the State Architect requirements related to structural safety, fire and life safety, accessibility and Cal-Green Standards.
