Specifications include, but are not limited to: The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works (County) is proposing to replace the damaged bridge on Creston Road at Quail Creek. During a major storm system to hit San Luis Obispo County this previous winter 2023, extensive scour and erosion occurred undermining the existing roadway, bridge abutments, and bridge foundations. County staff completed an emergency fix and reopened the road on January 24th. The storm damage required closure of the road while repairs were performed. The County completed temporary emergency repairs to underpin the foundations, backfill the scoured abutments, shore the bridge deck, and rebuild the damaged roadway. The creek banks were reinforced with RSP along Quail Creek as well. A key objective of the Project is to minimize the amount of time Creston Road is closed while the existing bridge is demolished, and the permanent fix is constructed. The Project will evaluate alternatives to provide a permanent solution for traffic conveyance over Quail Creek. Based on the selected alternative, the Consultant will provide a complete design package including plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E), support bidding, as well as engineering support during construction. The Consultant will also provide environmental services related to CEQA and permitting. The project has an accelerated schedule to meet funding deadlines in accordance with Federal Highway Administration Emergency Relief (FHWA ER) requirements. The βERβ program is administered by Caltrans.
