Manufacturer – Hamilton Robotics Model – MicroLab 4 x 4 AutoLys SAE STAR or equal 2.1.2 Instrument Specifications (features): 2.1.2.1 Complete automation of the sample lysis process for a minimum of 24 differential samples or 48 non-differential sample on a single enclosed platform (i.e. minimum of 48 cleared lysates). This shall include the ability to heat, shake, centrifuge and recover lysate from samples. 2.1.2.2 Lysis and "spin basket" separation performed in a single 2D barcode labeled tube-in-tube spincolumn. The spin-column tube shall be DNase/RNase free. 2.1.2.3 Ability to perform incubation of a minimum of 48 samples on the instrument deck utilizing at least (2) heater shakers specifically designed for tube-in-tube spin columns. Additional heater shaker required with the following specifications: 3.0 mm orbit, shaking speed: 100-2000 rpm, Temperature control: RT+5℃ -105℃, Max loading: 300g 2.1.2.4 Fully automated separation of sample substrate from liquid lysate. This shall include a variety of substrates (i.e. swabs, fabric, chewing gum, tape, cigarette butts) and biological sample types (blood, buccal swabs, tissues, semen, etc.) 2.1.2.5 An on-deck centrifuge is required for the automated separation process. 2.1.2.6 Ability to transfer lysate recovered from spin-column tubes to a 96-well deep-well plate (lysate output plate) compatible with separate robotic platform utilized for purification. 2.1.2.7 At least (4) independent pipetting channels capable of tube transport, tube uncapping, tube recapping, and tube "lifting and locking" of spin-columns. This shall include the ability to automate the "spin basket" process by removal of the inner-tube of the tube-in-tube spin-column.
