Specifications include, but are not limited to: Locations: La Honda Creek, Thornewood, Coal Creek, Russian Ridge, and Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserves. Nearest City: La Honda, CA Botanical Survey Area: 667.7 acres EDRR: 71,000 feet, 9 parking areas, Skyline Field Office parking and equipment area. General Vegetation Classification(s): Redwood Forest, California grassland, coastal scrub, and mixed hardwood forest, including riparian areas. Project Objective(s): Fuels Reductions, trail reroute, timber harvest, demolition, and general inventory and monitoring; Lat/Long: 37.34, -122.24 Task 1 – Target List Development Prior to conducting protocol-level surveys, the Consultant should perform a background search and literature review of all existing data pertaining to botanical resources to develop a list of special-status plant species and sensitive natural communities to target within the study areas.; Task 2 – Field Surveys Task 2a: Protocol Level Botanical Survey Prior to entering any District managed lands, the Consultant shall comply with Attachment 2: Guidelines for Minimizing Phytophthora Contamination at Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District Preserves. Consultant shall conduct protocol-level rare plant surveys within the Botanical Survey Area during blooming periods with the specific timing based on the final target species list, seasonal weather patterns (which influence plant phenology), and results of reference populations visits, to capture the blooming periods for target special-status plants and sensitive natural communities.; Task 2b: Early Detection / Rapid Response Survey In addition to the protocol-level botanical survey, the Consultant shall survey for Early Detection / Rapid Response (EDRR) species at designated parking lots, roadside parking spaces, trailheads, capital improvement sites, and/or trails as described in the “Site Specific Information” section on page 2. EDRR data outside of the Botanical Survey Area does not have to be included in the Botanical Resources Survey Report. Surveys should be conducting during the same time period as the Protocol-level Botanical Surveys. Point-radius data shall be collected on populations and/or individuals of target species. All data collected shall be uploaded to CalFlora under the Midpen project page within 10 business days of the survey.; Task 3 – Botanical Resources Survey Report Upon completion of the botanical surveys, Consultant should prepare a technical report that conforms to agency protocols. The timber harvest area of La Honda shall have a separate section for items # 3, 4, 5, and 6 below. The reports will include: 1. Description of the study methodology; 2. Provide an assessment of existing conditions (including a description of all vegetation communities encountered); 3. Present the results of protocol-level surveys for sensitive botanical resources (i.e., sensitive natural communities, special-status plant species, and locally rare plants) Task 4 – Worker Environmental Awareness Documents for projects that have potential direct or indirect impacts from on the environment Task 4a: Geo-Referenced Field Map(s) The Consultant shall produce an electronic geo-referenced adobe PDF field map(s) (11” x 17”; Minimum scale 1:2,000 at 300 DPI export resolution) for crews performing work at site locations. Field maps shall contain the following layers: • Base Layer: Satellite image • Preserve Boundary • Survey Boundary • Water features • Roads and Trails • Sensitive Natural Community Boundary • CNPS species rated 1 or 2 • CNPS species rated 3 or 4 • Invasive Species locations • Other layers deemed necessary for a worker environmental awareness training
