The City of Salinas is seeking a qualified consultant for Professional Engineering design services for the design of Boronda Road Congestion Relief Project – Phase 2 (CIP 9510). Interested firms are invited to submit written Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) relating to this solicitation. This Phase 2 project includes widening and intersection improvements of approximately 1.1 miles of East Boronda Road between just east of McKinnon Street and about 700 feet east of Natividad Road intersection, including new multi-lane roundabouts at the intersections of El Dorado Drive and Boronda Road, and Natividad Road and Boronda Road. Work also includes but is not limited to: the design of storm water treatment facilities and bioretention facilities, shared-use paths, bike lanes, bus pullouts, street lighting, sidewalks, ADA pedestrian access ramps, storm drain system, sanitary sewer mainline extension, pavement delineation, roadway signs, landscaping, and all other improvements and requirements as necessary, including utility coordination. Phase 2 consists of providing design and engineering services of two standalone projects, phases 2A and 2B to be designed, bid, and constructed as standalone projects. Phase 2A project starts from the prior four-lane widened section east of McKinnon through the El Dorado Drive intersection to be improved as a multi-lane roundabout then transition back to the existing roadway cross section east of El Dorado Drive. Phase 2B project will begin from the prior four-lane widened section east of El Dorado Drive through the Natividad Road intersection to be improved as a multi-lane roundabout then transition back to the existing roadway cross section east of Natividad Road.
