Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Black & African Heritage (BAH) Underserved Cultural Communities (UsCC) subcommittee was established under the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), with the goals of reducing disparities and increasing mental health access for the disabled community in Los Angeles County. This group works closely with community partners and consumers in order to increase the capacity of the public mental health system to develop culturally relevant recovery-oriented services specific to the disabled community, and to develop capacity-building projects.; A. The first component will include outreach and engagement of at least 10 Black mothers into a Cohort. Cohort members will meet a minimum of eight (8) times to support one another and to develop a Community Survey to be disseminated to Black mothers throughout Los Angeles County. The goal of the survey will be to identify the specific mental health concerns experienced by this underserved community and any gaps in service delivery, as well as learn how to best serve this community in a culturally sensitive and holistic way.; B. The second component will involve Cohort members creating narrative videos/interviews of their birth stories.; C. The third component will involve Facilitator, along with Cohort members, conducting two (2) Community Town Halls with the goal of presenting the Cohort members’ narrative videos, providing psychoeducation to attendees on the mental health needs of Black mothers, and increasing community engagement around the topic of Black Maternal Health. Facilitator can also use these Town Halls as an opportunity to disseminate the Community Survey to attendees who identify as Black mothers.; D. The fourth component will involve reporting out on the findings of the Cohort meetings, Town Halls, and Community Survey results.
