• If the vehicle has an issue that requires the vehicle to be removed from service due to an unsatisfactory BIT inspection, then the appropriate supervisor must be notified in writing before the vehicle work order is completed. • If small, non-safety related items are found defective, the awarded vendor must be able to replace small incidental items during the BIT inspection, items such as head lights, marker bulbs, reflective markings, and small fuses shall be considered incidental items. • BIT Inspection sticker shall be affixed within 24” of the driver/operator’s door handle location. • BIT forms must have all pertinent vehicle information on the BIT inspections form, and not have separate descriptions on the Work order/invoices that are different than the BIT inspection form. i.e. brake material lining, defective equipment noted on invoice, but not on BIT form. • All measurements shall be in clear readings by numerical value and not by percentage i.e. 15/32nd, not 46% for tires and brake linings. • If testing a trailer, the tooling which is used to test the trailer is clearly identified, using a vehicle as a test bench will not count as an “acceptable trailer testing device.” • ABS systems on trucks/trailers will be tested during BIT inspections. • A BIT inspection will be considered complete if the following conditions are met: • BIT sticker is affixed within 24” of Driver’s/Operator door handle. o Invoice in clearly marked with the same information on the BIT report o BIT report is submitted and WO/invoices are accurate.
