METAL SURFACES SHALL BE CLEAN, AND DRY BEFORE PAINTING. 4. ALL WELDS, ELECTRICAL AND PAINT WILL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH CALTRANS EQUIPMENT QUALITY STANDARDS. GO TO www.dot.ca.gov/hq/eqsc TO VIEW EQUIPMENT QUALITY STANDARDS. 5. THE WORK SHALL BE POSITIONED FOR FLAT WELDING WHENEVER POSSIBLE. USE PROPER PROCEDURES AND SEQUENCE OF WELDING TO AVOID NEEDLESS DISTORTION, AND MINIMIZE SHRINKAGE, WARPING, AND TWISTING OF THE ASSEMBLY. 6. ALL JOINTS TO BE WELDED CONTINUOUS UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED. SIZE OF ALL APPLICABLE WELDS TO BE AT LEAST THE THICKNESS OF THE THINNER OF THE ADJOINING PARTS. WELDS TO BE UNIFORM AND NEAT IN APPEARANCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH INDUSTRY BEST PRACTICES. 7. SEALANT SHALL BE APPLIED AFTER PAINTING TO ALL JOINTS AND SEAMS NOT WELDED CONTINOUS.
