• Services require a program(s) to have: o Assessment and goal setting – evaluate recess culture and identify baseline needs. o Curriculum and Assessment Tools o Professional Development - Training and consulting provided by a trainer who models and teaches strategies, games, and systems to foster a positive educational culture, starting with recess. - Training recess implementation – 2 Saturdays/ 3 Sites combined hosted at McKinley Elementary (November 2024) Training for group management – building rapport, attention getters, transitions and managing group behavior. - 1 Saturday/ 3 Sites combined hosted at McKinley Elementary (December 2024) Power of play - Emphasizing inclusive play, safety, and strategies for a respectful environment. - 1 Saturday, 6 hours/ 3 Sites combined hosted at McKinley Elementary (December 2024) o Coaching support – establishing overall goals for implementation in the 2024/25 school year o Recess implementation – on site for 5 consecutive days per site (January 2025) Team of at least 5 coaches to provide recess implementation training on a rotating basis throughout the three community schools. Provide all playground games and equipment Recess systems - Training on playground design, planning, and maintaining a healthy recess environment. o Ongoing in-person consultations with school leadership and the recess team to review progress and develop further action steps. (January – May 2025) Cultural Responsiveness component – Information and strategies that respect students of different ethnicities, race, religion, family structures, gender assignments. Special Needs strategies Social Emotional strategies o Post consultations – Virtual follow up consultation to address any further needs Calls and meeting (a minimum of 4 per site, January – May, 2025) o Student leadership program – Training students as leaders during recess by leading games and activities and helping students with conflict management o Consultation Visit - Ongoing in-person consultations with school leadership and the recess team to review progress and develop further action steps.
