Specifications include, but are not limited to: Tillage & Leveling - Prior to rototilling and leveling the renovation areas, the Contractor is to field verify depth of all lateral and/or main lines. Contractor is to protect in place all irrigation lines or will be responsible for all irrigation repairs if damages occur during the renovation period. All repairs are to be inspected and approved by Community Services, Parks & Recreation Manager or designee prior to backfill. The areas to be sodded should be prepped by breaking up and loosening the soil. Rototill fields to a depth of 4” to 6” inches. Using a rake, level the area and remove all debris. Before any soil amendments are applied, an initial laser leveling must be performed to field to correct any low or high spots within the grade. Once that leveling is completed, all soil amendments shall be uniformly incorporated into the top 4”– 6” inches of soil by rototilling, harrowing or other approved method. After the areas to be topsoiled have been brought to level, compact soil to an approximate 90% compaction rate. Loosen the top 2” inches of subgrade by scarification to permit bonding of the topsoil to the subsoil. The topsoil shall be uniformly distributed on the designated areas and it shall be a minimum of 3” inches deep after firming. Spreading of the topsoil shall be performed in such a manner that sod installation can proceed with a minimum of additional soil preparation and tillage. Any irregularities in the surface resulting from topsoil amending or other operations shall be corrected in order to prevent the formation of depressions or water pockets. Topsoil shall not be placed in a muddy condition, when the subgrade is excessively wet, or in a condition that may otherwise be detrimental to proper grading for sod installation...
