The Contractor will provide as-needed crane services at SMMF. The Contractor will be responsible for determining the appropriate crane to support the NCTD maintenance activities at NCTD. The Contractor’s as-needed services would support both planned and unplanned heavy maintenance activities. During the three (3) year term of this agreement, NCTD estimates approximately two (2) planned heavy maintenance crane services requests per year and one (1) unplanned heavy maintenance crane services request per year. In general, the two planned heavy maintenance crane services, will be for the Contractor to provide a certified crane operator with a maintained crane and rigging crew to remove and replace a locomotive wheel truck assembly (approximately 12.5 tons) as directed. The assembly would be jacked and rolled out from underneath the locomotive and then hoisted to an adjacent location on the ground with the crane. The crane may also be used to hoist a new wheel truck assembly to the location where it can be placed under the locomotive. NCTD will schedule the planned services at least ten (10) calendar days in advance of the requested services. Unplanned lifts may be for a maximum radius of 50 feet and maximum weight of 22 tons. The unplanned lifts may be requested as urgently as same-day for emergency situations, but Contractor is not required to provide services sooner than forty-eight (48) hours from the request. The Contractor will be responsible for providing on-call crane services, including: • an as-needed crane lift plan • the crane(s) for these services • and the certified crane operator and rigger to operate the crane
